Toolmaker
The Toolmaker is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of machine tools used in the fabrication and repair of tools, dies, and parts. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, tool repair, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. The Toolmaker will ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of production while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the facility and safety and wellness of all team members.
- Responsible to ensure process adherence to all applicable quality procedures to assure quality product with priority for patient safety.
- Communicate regularly in a respectful and collaborative fashion with members of the team to promote teamwork and maintain high level of morale.
- Repair and maintain press tools and dies.
- Perform routine servicing and regrinding of tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate and repair parts
- Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and descriptions to determine materials and machine requirements.
- Set up and operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders, ensuring machine parts meet specifications.
- Perform heat treatment on tools and parts as needed.
- Grind carbide tooling and operate centerless grinding equipment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Ideal
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in toolmaking, preferably in a manufacturing setting, with proficiency in operating and maintaining machine tools like lathes and grinders. Experience in tool repair, reading engineering drawings, and working with various materials is essential. A background in technical or vocational training is preferred, along with a strong understanding of safety and quality standards in production.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in toolmaking, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Technical school degree or equivalent preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of various tools, equipment, and materials used in production.
