Production QC/QA, Production Manager
Position Overview
The Production Supervisor will drive production/manufacturing results through ownership and accountability, ensuring that budgeted performance is reached on all lines and that line performance objectives—including changeover objectives—are met. The role requires maintaining washout timelines, limiting downtime, and working with maintenance to ensure appropriate handshakes, PM program adherence, and training/knowledge sharing. Development and implementation of sustainable systems to improve production efficiencies are key responsibilities.
EssentialFunctions
- Constantly focus on improving line performance, limiting downtime, and improving changeover times on all lines.
- Develop and deliver effective briefs, reports, and meetings. Attend all inter‑department meetings daily to coordinate plans, complete required safety items, cross‑train employees, ensure GMP and SQF compliance, verify QC checks on running product, and conduct visual observation of running product.
- Understand short‑term and long‑term production goals and targets, and align them with daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
- Continuously monitor and update SOPs as needed.
- Plan and execute effective line startups, ensure all equipment is cleaned, and plan new product runs efficiently.
- Implement the Production Department training matrix, maintain accurate records, develop training programs, track effectiveness via weekly evaluation forms, certify completion, and periodically validate training.
- Lead shift change meetings (debriefs) to communicate essential information for business flow.
- Lead projects including capital improvements on production lines, support systems, new product runs, packaging or container changes, consumer complaint investigations, and line issue investigations using Six Sigma tools.
- Attend safety meetings and lead process‑improvement teams to generate ideas for line efficiencies.
- Develop plant operations knowledge of main support systems, understanding their impact on plant operations.
- Communicate clearly with the team about expectations, monitor performance, and address inefficiencies through coaching, positive motivation, or formal disciplinary action when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in an engineering‑related field (or equivalent experience) plus four (4) years in a production and/or engineering environment.
- Strong leadership capabilities in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Previous experience in the food/ beverage manufacturing industry is preferred.
Position‑Specific
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, & Outlook) and ability to learn new applications quickly.
- Understanding of operational electrical and mechanical systems; troubleshooting; and Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of SQF, responsibility for food safety/quality, and ability to take action when issues arise.
- Ability to prioritize and multi‑task in an organized, detailed manner under tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to work alternate shifts if production needs arise.
- Continuously standing or walking.
- Requires moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work environment is repetitive.
- Ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
