The ideal candidate has experience working with manual machine shop equipment such as lathes and grinders and takes pride in precision craftsmanship and preventative maintenance.

This role is focused on tool maintenance and repair—not die building or die design.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a tool room, machine shop, or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of trim dies and molds preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing dies and tooling.
  • Experience operating manual lathes, surface grinders, and other conventional machine shop equipment.
  • Ability to manufacture replacement tooling components such as core pins.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Welding experience (MIG and TIG) is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair trim dies, molds, and production tooling.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble tooling to ensure proper function.
  • Operate manual machine shop equipment including lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and other conventional machinery.
  • Manufacture replacement components such as core pins, bushings, punches, and other tooling components using manual machining methods.
  • Perform precision fitting, polishing, grinding, and adjustment of tooling components.
  • Make minor die repairs through machining and welding when necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling to minimize production downtime.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, tooling drawings, and mechanical prints.
  • Measure finished components using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Work closely with production personnel to troubleshoot tooling issues and support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow ISO 9001 quality procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Keep the tool room organized and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Benefits:
  • Health Insurance
  • 401k
