SPECIAL PROCESS COORDINATOR

Oberg Industries is looking for a Special Process Coordinator to become a key link between our manufacturing operations, suppliers, purchasing, quality, and production planning teams. In this role, you'll coordinate critical outside processing and special processes that are essential to producing high-precision components for demanding industries such as aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and other advanced manufacturing markets. We're looking for someone who is organized, proactive, technically curious, and comfortable communicating with suppliers and internal teams.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY IMPACT:
Build & Manage Supplier Relationships
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for outside processing suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop strong, professional relationships with suppliers through consistent communication, follow-up, and problem-solving.
  • Understand supplier capabilities, capacity, lead times, strengths, and limitations.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve scheduling, quality, documentation, and processing issues.
  • Visit supplier facilities as needed to evaluate capabilities, processes, quality, and capacity.
  • Support the qualification and development of new outside processing suppliers.
Coordinate the Manufacturing Supply Chain
  • Coordinate outsourced manufacturing and special processing from purchase order through completion and return to Oberg.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure outside processing supports production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Determine the best supplier for each job based on capability, capacity, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor supplier lead times and proactively identify potential delays before they impact production.
  • Communicate supplier status, delivery risks, and issues during production meetings.
  • Help keep jobs moving when priorities change or unexpected problems arise.
Manage ERP, Purchasing & Documentation
  • Use ERP systems to create, track, and maintain accurate supplier and order information.
  • Create and manage RFQs, purchase orders, subcontract orders, receiving records, certifications, and supplier documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, processing requirements, lead times, and certifications.
  • Coordinate incoming inspection of externally processed materials before they return to production.
  • Use data and ERP information to help support production planning, scheduling, and supplier performance management.
Support Supplier Quality & Performance
  • Monitor supplier performance including On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality, lead time, and PPM.
  • Partner with Quality and suppliers to resolve nonconformances and processing issues.
  • Issue and follow up on Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when needed.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce lead times, and strengthen the outside processing network.
SPECIAL PROCESS EXPERTISE:

You don't need to know everything on day one—but you should be comfortable learning and working with technical manufacturing processes. You'll work with suppliers and internal technical teams to ensure processing requirements are clearly understood and completed to specification.
