Job Responsibilities
- Help shape the strategic direction of a marketing and communications area by translating priorities into programming; provide thought leadership across product lines or business units; build annual and quarterly planning frameworks; articulate clear POV on strategic direction and identify biggest opportunities and risks.
- Design the strategic blueprint for a portfolio of businesses and programs at a team-level; define how initiatives fit across audiences, channels, and business needs; contribute to project budgets, suggest tools, and provide input on staffing levels; ensure teams understand rationale and create work streams to avoid duplication.
- Lead alignment with colleagues and leaders across the department and enterprise; ensure that stakeholders share the same goals, timelines, and expectations; set cross-functional decision frameworks; facilitate stakeholder meetings; manage escalations that impact major programs.
- Follow and set governance standards for a portfolio of work, including brand compliance, content risk review, legal/privacy requirements, accessibility guidelines; anticipate and mitigate risks related to messaging, timing, market sensitivity, or executional quality; maintain crisis readiness and align with corporate communications and legal teams.
- Ensure leadership has necessary information and line of sight; own risks, trade-offs, and investment discussions; advocate for resources; protect teams from unnecessary noise; accelerate progress by eliminating blockers; provide training for workgroup staff.
- Define experience strategy for priority audiences within a portfolio; ensure consistency in narrative, tone, and visual identity; partner with channel leaders and creative leadership to reinforce brand promise and deliver accessible, inclusive, high‑quality experiences.
- Lead performance strategy for projects; define KPI frameworks, measurement plans, attribution models, and learning agendas; synthesize insights from analytics, research, and market signals; develop performance narrative for senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 8 years of professional experience within a marketing communications department, advertising agency, or related setting.
- At least five years of direct and indirect management of cross‑functional marketing and communications teams.
- Deep understanding of marketing department or agency structures, practice areas, and inner workings.
- Experience navigating complex, matrixed organizational structures and demonstrating change‑management experience.
- Ability to interact with C‑suite and other executives, manage expectations, discuss trade‑offs, and take ownership of marketing and communications counsel.
- Knowledge of industry, trade regulations, truth in advertising, intellectual property rights, and related laws.
- Direct experience with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) for content generation, research, or workflow automation; enforce policy and best practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Communications, Digital Marketing, MBA, or related graduate degree.
- Strong aptitude for learning and working within new software applications.
- Track record of building and managing high‑achieving teams.
- Experience with enterprise business sectors (health, higher education, insurance) strongly preferred.
Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use. Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
