About the Organization:
The Asian American Community Fund of PA (AACFPA) is the first-ever statewide nonpartisan civic engagement organization directly advocating for the needs of Asian Pacific Islanders in PA. Built by Asian American community leaders across the state with a collective 50 years of experience advocating for our people, we build long-term political power and win justice for our communities.
This position is shared with our sibling entity, the Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (API PA), a separate 501(c)4, to whom the employee may also report and provide services consistent with the below duties on occasion.
Position Overview:The Program Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of the Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance in providing organizing, coordination, and administrative support to help implement the goals and programs of the statewide Power Caucus. The Program Manager will also implement the Community Fund’s Unity Grants and Fellowship Program and the annual SEED Fellowship. This includes working with AACFPA and API PA staff, members, community leaders, elected officials, and partner organizations in support of racial and economic justice in Asian American communities across the Commonwealth.
This position is shared with API PA, to whom the employee may also report and provide services consistent with the below duties on occasion.
The following responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work. They are not exhaustive; duties may change with notice.
Caucus Organizing & Development (40%)
- Conduct periodic 1-on-1s with current members of the Power Caucus
- Onboard new Caucus members
- Maintain tracking of Power Caucus leaders’ engagement, skills, and growth edges; strategize on asks to increase solidarity, confidence, and skills
- Support Coordinating Committee with political education and skills-building trainings
- Coordinate Power Caucus subcommittees as appropriate
- Facilitate all-Caucus spaces as needed
- Plan and implement joint canvass days, phone banks, textbanks, civic engagement events; support leader promotion and recruitment; training at events; post-event debriefing
- Coach Caucus organizations on recruiting and managing volunteers
- Plan the annual Power Caucus retreat; handle logistics
- Collaborate with Data staff to train and support use of VAN and other political technology by Power Caucus members
- Support Caucus leaders in planning field outreach and applying lessons to improve next events
SEED Fellowship Program Coordination (20%)
- Coordinate the SEED Fellowship alongside the Organizing Director
- Manage training, political education sessions, and evaluate candidate performance
Unity Grants Program (25%)
- Coordinate the Community Fund's Arts & Culture Grants (Unity Grants) program
- Collaborate with staff to implement voter registration and civic engagement programming through Grants
- Prospect new potential grantees and assess staffing needs
Administrative and Operations Support (15%)
- Coordinate backend of re-granting and reimbursement for Power Caucus
- Coordinate re-granting for Unity Grant Arts and Culture program
- Coordinate onboarding and processing payroll of SEED fellows
- Provide grant reporting and administrative support to Directors as needed
