Highland is seeking a passionate and organized Director of Children and Family Ministries to lead and grow our ministry with children and their families. This part-time (30 hours per week), non-exempt position reports to the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and plays a vital role in nurturing a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment where children and families can grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.

The Director will oversee all aspects of Sunday morning children’s programming, including coordinating and supporting volunteers, preparing classrooms, and ensuring a well‑organized and inviting experience each week. Working collaboratively with church leadership, this individual will also help select and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of our children, equipping volunteer teachers with the tools and support they need to lead effectively.

Beyond Sunday mornings, the Director will lead and support a variety of family‑focused events and outreach opportunities throughout the year, such as Vacation Bible School, Trunk‑or‑Treat, the Easter Egg Hunt, and Christmas Eve services. The role also includes oversight of our weekly Gym Jam program, helping to foster connection and community among families during the week.

A key part of this position is building strong relationships with volunteers and families, encouraging participation, and supporting intergenerational engagement within the life of the church. The Director will maintain regular communication with families, participate in staff and committee meetings, and collaborate with other ministries to strengthen faith formation across all ages.

Qualified candidates will have prior experience in children’s ministry or education, strong organizational and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to recruit and encourage volunteers. A growing Christian faith and alignment with the mission of Highland Presbyterian Church are essential. This role requires Sunday morning availability, participation in weekly staff meetings, and flexibility for occasional evenings, seasonal events, and midweek programming.
