About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant to partner directly with a Spine Physician s role offers a dynamic blend of clinic care, operating room support, hospital rounding, and call responsibilities, allowing you to practice at the top of your license while working within a highly specialized spine team.
What You’ll DoClinic & Patient Care- Perform comprehensive physical exams, obtain medical histories, and develop treatment plans
- Evaluate and manage patients with spine-related conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies
- Provide follow‑up care and ensure continuity between visits
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and medications
- Work alongside the Spine Physician in the OR
- Assist with perioperative care and surgical coordination
- Ensure all preoperative requirements are completed (clearances, testing, documentation)
- Support intraoperative and postoperative patient management within scope
- Perform hospital rounds for postoperative and inpatient spine patients
- Participate in call rotation, addressing urgent patient needs and clinical concerns
- Communicate patient updates and clinical findings with the physician
- Conduct preoperative assessments to confirm surgical readiness
- Identify patients who may not meet outpatient surgical criteria and alert appropriately
- Guide patients and families through the perioperative experience
- Complete all documentation, orders, and charts in a timely and accurate manner
- Adhere to Ortho Virginia policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards
- Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and compliance
- Active NP or PA license (state-specific requirements apply)
- Experience in spine, orthopedics, neurosurgery, or surgical specialty preferred
- Ability to work across clinic, hospital, and surgical settings
- Strong clinical judgment and decision‑making skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a high‑performing team
- Flexibility to travel between Ortho Virginia locations as needed
- Part of a leading orthopedic and spine practice known for clinical excellence
- Work closely with an experienced Spine Specialist
- Engage in a diverse role with clinic, OR, rounding, and call exposure
