Position: LVN/LPN - Long Term Care (Nights) Kane

LPN Wing Supervisor

Under the direction of the RN Supervisor, the LPN Wing Supervisor carries out the medical plan of care and oversees the Nursing Assistants' care of residents and high school students to insure that resident care is carried out in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable state and federal regulations. Client's ideal candidate would be someone who has a passion to work with and interact with residents daily.

General duties include administering and recording medication, treatments and monitoring, transcribing physician's orders, completing monthly summaries, reviewing care plans, reporting changes in resident condition, communicating resident transfers, completing transfer forms, updating care plans, assisting physicians with rounds and treatments, collecting laboratory specimens, documenting laboratory work, supervising post mortem procedures, encouraging resident participation in activities, reporting team changes, assisting RN Supervisor with evaluations, writing commendations and counseling records, completing incident reports, documenting weights and vital signs, cleaning and stocking treatment trays, preparing daily reports, counting narcotics, maintaining inventory of resident belongings, maintaining a clean work area, submitting maintenance requests, maintaining a clean and safe environment, supervising resident care by nursing assistants, attending care plan conferences, assisting in orientation of new nursing staff, adjusting staffing assignments, conducting team conferences, ensuring staff familiarity with changes in policies, updating daily census, monitoring NA documentation, collecting data for quality assurance studies, monitoring nurse aide job performance, providing direct care for residents, seeking clarification or guidance, documenting drug disposal, and attending meetings.

Dress code includes wearing any colored scrubs, clean and in good repair shoes, clean hair, no large or dangling jewelry, wearing name tags daily, and no short or jogging pants.

Physical demands include good physical health and mental alertness, passing employment physicals, knowledge of good body mechanics, physician permission to perform duties, and being free of communicable disease.

Submission requirements include acknowledging no direct application, nursing home experience, BLS (AHA) certification, COVID vaccine preference, current PA license or temporary work permit, knowledge of medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques, reporting and recording, nursing theory application, compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, and institution philosophy, courteous and professional manner, cost containment awareness, time utilization, equipment care, ability to accept and follow directives, and communication and observation skills.

Certification requirements include BLS and a current PA license.

The Lutheran Home at Kane is a CCRC (Continuum of Care Retirement Community) providing independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. Located on a 25-acre forested plot in rural McKean County, it includes a 90-bed skilled nursing home, a 33-bed personal care facility, and six independent-living cottages. It offers a full range of programs to maintain and enhance residents' physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs in a home-like environment.
