Location: Mount Gretna
Overview
Full-time position (72 hours biweekly). Shift from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Requires every-other weekend and rotating holidays. Sign-on bonus eligible.
Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate direct patient care based on the nursing process and patient- and family-centered care; serve as primary nurse for patients on the unit and coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
- Safely and independently administer prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions guided by assessment and plan of care.
- Organize and prioritize time according to patient condition and workload; identify changes in patient status and activate appropriate resources to achieve desired outcomes.
- Identify and communicate individualized patient needs for safe handoffs during transitions of care; collaborate with patient/family in care planning with all disciplines.
- Document patient responses to interventions and progress toward outcomes; identify variances; utilize flow sheets, progress notes, and electronic medical records for documentation; recognize nursing-sensitive indicators (e.g., falls, pressure ulcers).
- Identify personal areas for professional growth and development; apply evidence-based practice where appropriate.
- Promote a professional practice environment that supports patient safety and quality through interdisciplinary collaboration and shared decision-making; participate in committees or support SDM projects as a role model.
- Begin to provide leadership for problem solving and goal formation; negotiate for win-win solutions.
- Delegate aspects of care to nursing personnel to meet patient needs; assist with prioritizing tasks and monitor completion by the care team.
- Foster collaboration among physicians, nursing staff, and other team members; support effective communications and develop conflict resolution skills to maximize team performance.
- Work may include duties related to Virtual Nursing as required; duties may vary by assigned care unit and unit-based skill requirements are described in unit skill lists and policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the life span; assess age-specific data and provide appropriate care for the assigned patient population.
- Commit to patient, visitor, and staff safety; comply with safety regulations; participate in error reduction efforts and root cause analyses as required.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills, and competencies.
- Deliver outstanding service; foster teamwork and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Diploma Program required or
- Associate’s degree required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- No experience required
- Licensed Registered Nurse upon hire or
- Registered Nurse multi-state license upon hire and
- Basic Life Support upon hire
