UPMC Central PA is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support the Hematology/Oncology department.

UPMC Central PA seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant that will work cooperatively with physicians, other PAs/NPs, RNs and other allied health personnel in the Department of Hematology/Oncology. This position will provide primarily outpatient breast oncology services, with minor inpatient rounding requirements at the 3 local hospitals within Harrisburg area. CRNPs are expected to obtain their advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner certification (AOCP) within 3 years of hire.

Qualifications

Hematology and Oncology experience preferred but not required. Orientation period to hematology/oncology will be provided. Two to five years of clinical experience in primary care or acute care/internal medicine is desired. Clinical leadership and professional flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) preferred.

Monday-Friday 8 or 10 hr shifts

The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.

The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
