Position Overview
As a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, you will help create a positive impact every day by supporting individuals in SCI Waymart. Your work brings stability, care, and encouragement to those who need it most.
Responsibilities- Provide vital sign checks, medication administration, treatments, restorative techniques, and health education.
- Assist physicians during examinations, clinics, treatments, testing, and screenings.
- Deliver first aid, CPR, AED use, assessments, and referrals during medical emergencies.
- Document patient information, maintain electronic health records, and prepare reports for transfers or release.
- Sterilize instruments, maintain inventory, and ensure adequate stock in treatment areas.
- Participate in required training and stay informed on policy and procedure updates.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work shifts cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
- 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
- Work hours to be determined.
- Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
- Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- No telework option.
- Starting annual salary $68,914.00 (before taxes).
- Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
- Eligible to apply within 60 days of completing an approved licensed practical nursing program.
- Must show proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license at appointment.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
