Greenwood Center for Nursing is seeking a dynamic Central Admissions Nurse to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will drive admissions, build strong referral relationships, and ensure seamless transitions for residents throughout the Scranton area
.

Position Summary

The Central Admissions Nurse is responsible for reviewing referrals, obtaining insurance authorizations, coordinating admissions, and serving as a clinical resource for referral partners. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge of skilled nursing services and experience navigating the admissions process from referral through admission.

Qualifications
  • Current Pennsylvania LPN or RN license required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of skilled nursing experience required

  • At least two (2) years of experience with admissions, insurance authorizations, and clinical referral reviews in a skilled nursing facility

  • Experience as an Admissions Nurse, Clinical Liaison, Director of Marketing, or similar role preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and insurance authorization processes

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple referrals and priorities

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, case managers, physicians, social workers, and community referral sources throughout the Scranton market

  • Review referrals to determine clinical appropriateness for admission

  • Obtain and manage insurance authorizations for incoming admissions

  • Coordinate admissions with facility leadership to ensure smooth resident transitions

  • Collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Business Office, and Admissions teams

  • Educate referral partners on facility services and capabilities

  • Attend networking events and community outreach opportunities to strengthen referral relationships

  • Monitor referral activity and help develop strategies to increase admissions and census growth
