Registered Nurse - Emergency DepartmentUPMC Northwest Hospital
Department: Emergency Department
Status: Limited Casual
Shift: Variable/Rotating Shifts
- Deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care model.
- Develop individualized care plans and collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Utilize critical thinking to address clinical, safety, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance patient care.
- Utilize research and evidence-based practices to support clinical decision-making.
- Contribute to discussions that improve patient outcomes and care delivery.
- Build positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and providers.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to workplace safety.
- Adapt effectively to changing priorities and patient care needs.
- Educate patients and families throughout the care journey and discharge process.
- Support the orientation and development of students, new staff, and peers.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and professional growth.
- Participate in shared governance, unit goals, and practice improvement initiatives.
- Serve as an engaged member of the care team, readily assisting colleagues as needed.

- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to delivering age-appropriate, patient-centered care
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients as needed
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire
- CCMC required within 30 days of hire/transfer
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) required within 6 months
- ACLS and PALS required within 1 year of hire/transfer
- National nursing certification preferred
- Act 33
- Act 34
- Act 73 FBI Clearance
