Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

UPMC Northwest Hospital
Department: Emergency Department
Status: Limited Casual
Shift: Variable/Rotating Shifts

Responsibilities Patient Care Excellence
  • Deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care model.
  • Develop individualized care plans and collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Utilize critical thinking to address clinical, safety, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
Quality & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance patient care.
  • Utilize research and evidence-based practices to support clinical decision-making.
  • Contribute to discussions that improve patient outcomes and care delivery.
Teamwork & Professionalism
  • Build positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and providers.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Adapt effectively to changing priorities and patient care needs.

  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to delivering age-appropriate, patient-centered care
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients as needed
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire
  • CCMC required within 30 days of hire/transfer
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) required within 6 months
  • ACLS and PALS required within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • National nursing certification preferred
Clearances
  • Act 33
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
