THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position delivers hands‑on nursing care to inmates with medical, behavioural, or developmental needs. It requires strong clinical judgment, steady communication, and a commitment to safe treatment practices. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
- Clinical Care:
Assess inmate needs, administer medications, perform treatments, and support daily living activities - Health Monitoring:
Check vital signs, assist with examinations, and provide education and counseling - Emergency Response:
Deliver first aid, CPR, and other urgent care when needed - Record Management:
Complete reports, update electronic health records, and maintain controlled substance documentation - Supply Preparation:
Sterilise instruments and maintain adequate stock in treatment areas - Team Communication:
Share information during shift reports and notify staff of medical concerns

Work Hours and Additional Information- Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM). You r work schedule is to be determined. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Please Note:

Special Requirements
- This position requires active authorisation to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
