Position: Sr. Professional Staff Nurse II, (Part-Time) OR UPMC Susquehanna Valley Surgery Ctr
Location: Colonial Park

The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II is a Registered Nurse, a member of the care delivery team, and responsible for seeking opportunities to assist in changing practice through process improvement. The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care.

The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Senior Professional Staff Nurse II encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting.
  • Preparing the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies while ensuring that all necessary tools and medications are available and sterile.
  • Creates a caring and compassionate experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • Practices solid communication skills with team members and can articulate changes in the patients condition while contributing recommendations to the plan of care.
  • Maintaining appropriate state of the unit by stocking, organizing and cleaning care areas as per regulatory requirements.
  • * Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • * Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:

Variable 8-hour shifts between the hours of 6:00 am - 4:00 pm. Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays. Occasional late shifts.
