Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Devon

We're growing! Come grow with us!

Big news: our brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital opens in September 2026! With more space, more advanced technology, and an even better experience for patients and families, we're looking for a fantastic associate veterinarian to grow with our practice.

Who We Are:

NSVH is a family-owned, boutique-style, small-animal-exclusive practice in beautiful Newtown Square, PA. We're never open weekends, and there is never any on-call. When you're off, you're really off.

We have zero tolerance for abusive or nasty clients, and we fire them regularly when needed. Our clients are affluent, educated, and receptive to referrals when recommended. This means we get to practice great medicine, and you get to focus on client communication and education, not damage control.

Fear Free, Through and Through:

All of our veterinarians and CVTs are Fear Free Elite Certified Practitioners, and every other staff member completes Fear Free training. We're also a Gold Status Certified Cat Friendly Practice through the FelineVMA.

We offer 30-minute appointments for everything, giving you plenty of time to work with anxious patients and truly educate clients. No rushing.

You Will Never Be Understaffed:

We believe in overstaffing rather than understaffing. Every doctor in appointments has two experienced technicians, and our surgery doctor also has two experienced techs assigned. You'll have the support you need to practice great medicine without feeling stretched thin.

Our technicians handle all blood draws, nail trims, anal gland expressions, and more. This gives them real ownership and fulfillment in their own roles, while freeing you up to focus on what you trained for: diagnosing and treating patients.

The Toys:
  • Digital radiography and digital dental radiography
  • Handheld ultrasound
  • Full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment, including a Sedi Vue and In Vue
  • Surgi Vet multiparameter anesthesia monitor and a Bionet multiparameter anesthesia monitor
  • Doppler
  • Two Sun Vet portable blood pressure machines for BPs right in the exam room
  • A brand-new Companion laser
  • Board-certified radiologist review on all radiographs, plus a boarded radiologist who visits regularly to perform ultrasounds

We're also paperless, running on cloud-based Day Smart Vet (formerly Vetter). Every doctor has a desk with a phone and computer, and there are laptops in every exam room. Our phone system supports texting with clients, and we lean on email too. This means less time on the phone, more time on medicine.

Perks & Benefits:
  • PTO
  • Health insurance through Independence Blue Cross (eligible if working 30+ hours/week); employer pays 50% during the first two years and then employer pays 100% after two years of employment
  • Dental insurance - 100% paid by employer
  • 401(k) with 100% match (eligible after 12 months and if working 1,000 hours per year)
  • All professional dues and licenses covered
  • Paid uniforms
  • VIN membership and Plumb's Pro app
  • Fear Free certification
  • Annual CE allowance — rolls over if unused
  • Generous personal pet discount
  • Optional membership to CoVet AI dictation software
What You'll Do:
  • Conduct thorough exams to diagnose and treat illness or injury, with client education at every appointment and in written follow-up emails
  • Perform basic soft tissue surgeries - spays/neuters, tumor removals, cystotomies
  • Administer vaccinations and medications
  • Provide dental care, including cleanings and extractions
  • Collaborate closely with technicians and assistants for comprehensive patient care
  • Educate pet owners on nutrition, preventive care, and healthy habits
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Stay current on advancements in veterinary medicine
  • One scheduled surgery/dental day each week
What We're Looking For:
  • DVM degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in PA
  • Excellent communication skills — our clients are engaged and expect thoughtful education
  • A fun, team-player attitude! We love our jobs, love to laugh, and have fun every day.
