Middlesex Veterinary Hospital is looking for an
experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our patient-focused team. We're seeking someone who is confident in their clinical abilities, enjoys staying actively involved in patient care, and works well in a collaborative hospital environment.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced veterinary professional who wants to use your technical skills across appointments, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, and treatments while continuing to grow within a supportive practice.

About the Opportunity

Our technicians and assistants are important members of the medical team and work closely with our veterinarians throughout the day. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of cases, including preventive medicine, sick visits, chronic disease management, dentistry, and surgical procedures.

In this role, you may:

  • Support veterinarians during appointments, treatments, and diagnostic procedures
  • Obtain patient histories and assist with client communication and education
  • Perform venipuncture and collect samples for laboratory testing
  • Place and maintain IV catheters
  • Calculate, prepare, and administer medications as directed
  • Prepare basic cytology samples and assist with in-house diagnostics
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia, patient vitals, and recovery
  • Assist with dental procedures, including cleanings and dental radiographs
  • Position patients and obtain diagnostic radiographs
  • Provide nursing care and treatments to hospitalized patients
  • Document treatments and patient information accurately in medical records
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas
  • Help support an efficient daily workflow and positive team environment
What Will Help You Succeed

We're looking for someone who brings both strong technical abilities and a team-first approach to patient care.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • At least 2 years of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience
  • Previous experience in general practice, emergency, specialty medicine, or another full-service veterinary setting
  • Confidence with common veterinary technical and nursing skills
  • Strong patient handling and restraint abilities
  • An understanding of anesthesia and surgical patient monitoring
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • The ability to prioritize responsibilities in a busy clinical environment
  • A dependable, proactive, and collaborative work style
