Safety Officer

Join our team! As Safety Officer, you will lead the charge in building a world-class safety culture for Colonial Electric Supply . This role is ideal for a hands-on safety professional who thrives in fast-paced distribution environments and knows how to balance operational output with strong risk controls. A full time, in‑office presence is required.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive Compliance & Readiness
- Maintain OSHA compliance across PIT/forklift, hazard communication, PPE, walking-working surfaces, and machine guarding.
- Own OSHA 300/300A/301 logs, incident documentation, and training records.
- Keep site safety policies current and aligned with company standards.
- Reduce Risk & Strengthen Controls
- Identify and mitigate top DC hazards: forklift-pedestrian interaction, dock operations, conveyors, racking integrity, pallet quality, slips/trips/falls.
- Conduct routine inspections and implement engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
- Respond to injuries, near‑misses, and property damage events.
- Conduct root‑cause investigations and drive corrective/preventive actions.
- Track safety metrics and report trends to leadership.
- Build Training & Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver safety training for all employees.
- Coordinate MHE, pedestrian, dock, emergency response, ergonomics, and JSA training.
- Coach supervisors and conduct regular floor observations and safety talks.
- Own Key Safety Programs
- Manage MHE authorization and evaluations.
- Lead ergonomics initiatives and injury‑prevention strategies.
- Maintain emergency action plans, drills, and muster accountability.
- Oversee PPE standards and fire/life safety compliance.
- Influence & Partner Across Teams
- Work closely with Operations, HR, Maintenance, and Quality.
- Lead the safety committee and daily/weekly safety huddles.
- Provide clear, practical guidance supervisors can execute immediately.
- Set annual safety goals and manage the site action plan.
- Oversee video system audits and ensure follow‑up with managers.
- Use audits, Gemba walks, and data to prioritize improvements.
What You Bring:
- 3–5+ years of safety management or EHS experience (distribution or manufacturing preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and DC operational hazards.
- Experience conducting investigations and managing CAPA.
- Strong communication, coaching, and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain a high floor presence.
- Local to King of Prussia, PA with the ability to work in-office Monday to Friday
- Preferred: OSHA 30, CHST, ASP, CSP, or similar credentials.
