Quality Control Analyst - Chemistry (Contract)

Myerstown, PA, United States (On-site)

Contract (6 months 1 day)

Job Summary:

This role is situated within the Quality Assurance department, where the incumbent will engage in continuous learning of Quality Assurance systems and foster effective relationships with laboratory peers, Manufacturing/Production teams, and personnel from other departments. The individual will be responsible for performing quality assurance tests on specific products, which can significantly influence manufacturing processes and product outcomes. The Drug Product testing team focuses on Quality Control testing of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, ensuring compliance with stability programs and shelf-life specifications.

This dynamic and fast-paced environment demands teamwork to meet aggressive throughput times while supporting a lean manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform standard qualitative and quantitative analysis on in-process products, pure drug substances, and finished pharmaceutical preparations using gravimetric and spectrophotometric procedures according to approved testing protocols.
  • Utilize standard bench chemistry techniques as well as advanced electronic instrumentation, including HPLC, spectrophotometer, and viscometer.
  • Maintain accurate records of all analysis information for assigned products on data sheets for permanent filing and ensure proper entry of information on laboratory forms.
  • Evaluate data obtained from analyses; consult with Supervisor regarding discrepancies or deviations and recommend additional testing if necessary.
  • Conduct routine analytical testing of in-process, finished bulk products, and stability products to ensure compliance with compendia and company standards.
  • Adhere to corporate safety programs and comply with GMPs, ISO standards, or other relevant regulations.
  • Assist in investigating non-compliance issues.
  • Support troubleshooting of analytical methodologies and instrumentation malfunctions.
  • Undertake special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Skills:
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience (beyond bachelor's degree), preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, data processing, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles necessary for job functions.
  • Effective communication skills to convey ideas, concepts, and results to colleagues and supervisors.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Initiative‑driven with a willingness to learn new techniques and methodologies.
  • Proficient in advanced laboratory instrumentation and personal computer skills.
  • Competencies include analytical problem‑solving, alertness to detail, adherence to policies/procedures, commitment to tasks, decisiveness, effective written communication skills, organization, and planning abilities.
  • Experience with wet analytical methods and instrumentation techniques such as HPLC, UV, GC, IR, and AA is preferred.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
