The Quality Assurance Team is a matrix organization within the Company dedicated to creating food products leading to the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding person to join the team in our Devault, PA location as a Quality Assurance Supervisor.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor plans and directs activities concerned with developing, implementing, and maintaining the development quality standards for production processes, materials, and products. This position supervises our Quality Techs to ensure that proper protocols, documentation and production and sanitation oversight are meeting Company standards.
Tasks, Duties, & General Responsibilities- Reviews quality records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal specifications.
- Works with team on proactively improving the Quality and food Safety program and Pilot plant production facility to meet the Company’s, customers’, and the local State and city Health Department requirements. Be the liaison between the local Health inspectors and the plant management.
- Develops, implements, and maintains standards and methods for routine quality and sanitation inspections and verification.
- Assists the team in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, or quality deviations related to texture, flavor, foreign material, or shelf-life stability.
- Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Sanitation teams to ensure successful new product launches and process validations.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of regulatory, customer, and third-party audits (SQF, FDA, etc.).
- Creates and manages training materials associated with the Food Safety & Quality program for Quality and Sanitation Techs and trains new hires.
- Maintains and accounts for product and raw material Holds and disposals, including but not limited to conducting mock recall traceability exercises at a minimum of once every quarter.
- Assist in troubleshooting, overseeing root cause investigations, and collaborating on corrective and preventive actions for non-conformance issues.
- Lead and Oversees plant GMP & pest control program and actively works with pest control provider on corrective actions and investigations.
- Lead and oversee the plant Sanitation program by working with internal and external parties; regularly review performance results with trend analysis, root cause, corrective action as required, chemical validation, and hygienic verification.
- Coordinate samples for testing as needed.
- Any other special projects per QA Department needs.
- Lead, manage, and supervise employees, delegate training for all processes within the production area setting.
- Provide mentorship and training to functional team members.
- Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or Microbiology preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
