3rd Shift Test Technician
The 3rd Shift Test Technician plays a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical products, with a focus on circuit breakers. Working overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., this role involves reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics, calibrating and operating test equipment, and analyzing test results to identify and document non-conforming products. The technician collaborates closely with engineers, other technicians, and production teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement in testing processes.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to support testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Calibrate test instruments and ensure they operate within required standards for accuracy and reliability.
- Interpret documents such as test standards, inspection procedures, and test procedures to perform testing correctly and consistently.
- Test the functional performance of circuit breakers using electrical and mechanical methods, including high voltage testing and visual and dimensional inspections.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on units that do not meet specifications to identify root causes of defects.
- Analyze test results on defective units, document findings clearly, and create detailed reports on non-conforming products.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify that products meet all specified requirements.
- Use appropriate test equipment to perform electrical testing and verify product performance and safety.
- Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and other testing staff to resolve problems and improve testing procedures.
- Follow established safety guidelines and quality standards during all testing and calibration activities.
- Maintain organized records of test results, calibration data, and inspection reports for traceability and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics efficiently.
- Experience calibrating test instruments and working with test standards, inspection procedures, and test procedures.
- Proficiency in analyzing test results on defective units and documenting findings in clear, structured reports.
- Hands-on experience testing the functional performance of circuit breakers using electrical and mechanical functions.
- Knowledge of high voltage testing methods and safety practices.
- Experience performing visual and dimensional inspections on electrical components or assemblies.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in tested units.
- Ability to operate and work with a variety of electrical test equipment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when interpreting technical documents and recording test data.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Skillset in electrical wiring, electrical assembly, or related electrical work.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production testing environment.
- Comfort working with high voltage equipment and adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently on 3rd shift while coordinating with cross-functional teams as needed.
- Willingness to train on daylight shift prior to moving into the designated shift.
