Job Description:
The Weber Lab at Bryn Mawr is seeking a Research Assistant to join our team for a full-time, one-year appointment beginning in summer 2026. Our lab studies how sensory information is encoded in the nervous system, using insect flight as a model system to study mechanosensation. The RA will gain experience conducting electrophysiology experiments, as well as analyzing data and preparing data for publication.
The RA will also assist with day-to-day operations of the lab, such as inventory and animal care. There will be opportunities to mentor undergraduate research assistants.

Characteristic Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrophysiology experiments to investigate how sensory information is encoded in the nervous system, using insect flight as a model system for mechanosensation.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data using appropriate quantitative and computational methods.
- Prepare data, figures, and documentation for manuscripts, presentations, and publication.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, and ensuring well-organized lab environments.
- Perform routine animal care and ensure compliance with laboratory and institutional protocols.
- Maintain detailed and accurate experimental records and lab notebooks.
- Collaborate with the principal investigator and other lab members on ongoing research projects.
- Mentor and provide guidance to undergraduate research assistants, including training in experimental techniques and best lab practices.
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to discussions on experimental designs, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
- BS or BA in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field by Summer 2026.
- Prior laboratory experience in a research setting.
- Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
- Basic programming experience (e.g., Python or MATLAB).
- Prior experience with electrophysiology techniques is a particular plus but not required.
