For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full‑time and part‑time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP).

An "Enrollee" is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An "Enrollee" is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents, authorize the use of federal funds, or initiate any federally funded research projects; shall not author articles for publication as a federal employee, nor coordinate scientific research between the Government and private industry;
shall not present themselves as a Government employee or representative at meetings; shall not make decisions on federally based research on behalf of Government policy makers; and shall not supervise any Government employees.

QualificationsMinimum of 5 year(s) of experience in a related field or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field; or 5 years of hands‑on analytical or synthetic Chemistry or Microbiology; or BA/BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or closely related subject.
- Laboratory experience including HPLC.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel.
Enrollee works as a lab tech under the supervision of a senior scientist, providing support while adhering to the restrictions noted above.
- Assists scientist(s) in laboratory work (60%).
- Instrument calibration and routine maintenance (20%).
- Maintains lab cleanliness and prepares reagents, including stocking supplies as necessary (20%).
- Training provided as needed.
- Health and Safety Considerations:
Enrollee will receive general safety overview and lab‑specific training prior to working. - Required Safety Gear:
Safety equipment needs will be identified by the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist on the first day in the workplace. - Physical requirements:
Standing for long periods of time and some lightweight lifting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
