Postdoctoral Scholar Researcher

Position Overview

The Rasgon Lab at The Pennsylvania State University is hiring multiple Postdoctoral Scholars to work on projects related to the molecular biology of arthropods, including development of novel transgenic manipulation methods, gene transduction technologies, and model systems to study arthropod symbiosis. The position is a term appointment; the length of the term will be discussed during the interview process.

• Design and conduct experiments in molecular biology and genetics of arthropods.
• Perform cloning, construct design, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, PCR/qPCR, protein expression and purification using bacterial or yeast systems, and related protein techniques.
• Develop and apply bioinformatics and virology methods, including work with BSL2 and BSL3 pathogens and artificial vector infections.
• Write proposals and publications, and train graduate students, undergraduate students, and technical staff.
• Work independently and collaboratively within the lab team.

• Ph.D. (or equivalent doctorate) in a relevant field, with evidence of completion prior to hire.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: cloning, construct design, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, PCR/qPCR, protein expression and purification, protein techniques, receptor‑ligand interactions, bioinformatics, virology, BSL2/BSL3 pathogen work, and artificial vector infections.
• Experience working with mosquitoes preferred but not required.

Full‑time, in‑person position located in University Park, Pennsylvania. Remote or hybrid work is not permitted.
