The laboratory of Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova in the Department of Plant Science at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, seeks to employ a highly motivated scientist for the position of Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Plant Genetic Improvement. The role involves conducting research on genetic improvement of Theobroma cacao, the chocolate tree, as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Design and conduct highly controlled laboratory and greenhouse plant experiments.
- Collect various forms of phenotypic and molecular data.
- Perform statistical analysis of complex datasets.
- Maintain and update experimental protocols and data records.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to research manuscripts.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in plant sciences, genetics, plant breeding, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience in plant experimental design, phenotypic and molecular data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
- Evidence that all Ph.D. requirements have been met before the effective date of hire.
- Provide a brief statement of research interests and goals.
