Scientist Assistant

Job Title: Scientist I – Molecular Biology & Protein Biochemistry (Contract)

Location: [West Point, PA]

Pay Rate: Up to $32.14/hour

Schedule: Full-time (occasional evenings/weekends required)

We are seeking a Scientist I to support laboratory operations focused on molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and microbial process development. This role will perform hands‑on experimental work, lab‑scale fermentation, and analytical testing in a fast‑paced research environment.

• Prepare reagents, buffers, media, and laboratory solutions
• Perform lab-scale fermentation and microbial cell culture
• Set up and operate lab-scale process equipment
• Conduct analytical assays (e.g., SDS‑PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA)
• Analyze, track, and report experimental data
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with GLP
• Communicate results effectively with internal and client teams

• B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on laboratory experience
• Experience with aseptic technique, pipetting, and microbial cell culture
• Familiarity with protein biochemistry and analytical methods
• Basic knowledge of fermentation processes
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, spreadsheet linking)
• Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

• Ability to work with BSL‑1 organisms
• Willingness to work occasional off‑hours/weekends (10–20%)
