Postdoctoral Researcher - College of Engineering
The Marcolongo Lab at Villanova University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to an NIH-supported project examining biomimetic proteoglycans for molecularly engineering connective tissues, including cartilage and disc. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Michele Marcolongo on developing new molecular/biomaterial chemistries to optimize connective tissue repair and regeneration. The position starts as early as Summer 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with Dr. Michele Marcolongo on molecular/biomaterial chemistries for connective tissue repair and regeneration.
- Design and conduct experiments related to biomimetic proteoglycans and tissue engineering.
- Analyze data and prepare scientific manuscripts and presentations.
- Actively contribute to the lab’s research goals, early and minimally invasive strategies to mitigate disease progression in connective tissues.
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Expertise in polymers from a chemical and characterization perspective is encouraged.
- Knowledge of biomaterial/tissue interactions and gene expression.
