Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our DSCS Digital Technologies (DDT) organization within Development Sciences and Clinical Supply (DSCS), located in Rahway, NJ or West Point, PA.

Primary ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will work with a team of scientists to identify, develop, and deploy digital and data‑rich technologies that improve the gathering of process, product, and analytical data for our small‑molecule, biologics, and vaccine portfolios.
- Leverage digital technologies, hardware integration, and benchtop automation to support chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) activities.
- Develop custom automation for PAT implementation, integrate analytical instruments and sensors, and build software for process and product hardware.
- Apply robotics, data‑science, and modeling to enable the next generation of pharmaceutical processes across modalities and scales.
- Collaborate across automation, data science, IT, and the CMC community to translate experimental needs into scalable digital workflows.
- Lead projects from concept to deployment, focusing on performance, reliability, and usability.
- Provide hands‑on partnership, training, and troubleshooting support to scientists using these technologies.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Physics, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Materials Science, or a closely related field (expected graduation by end of 2026).
- M.S. in a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- B.S. in a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Highly motivated, technology‑centric scientist passionate about modernizing development practices across biologics, vaccines, and small‑molecule modalities.
- Background in data‑rich laboratory technologies, including PAT, benchtop automation, analytical instrumentation, hardware integration, and software enablement.
- Demonstrated scientific ability through publications and conference presentations.
- Excellent communication, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver complex solutions under compressed timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Team‑oriented, with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with laboratory automation tools and integration of systems and hardware.
- Expertise in PAT design and deployment, including sensor integration and instrument interfacing.
- Track record in new technology research and deployment of digital, data‑rich methodologies.
- Collaborative research recognized by the scientific community.
- Evidence of cross‑functional collaboration in academic or industrial settings.
- Motivation to learn, willingness to take on new challenges, and scientific curiosity.
