Laboratory Scientist, Genetic Toxicology
We are seeking a laboratory scientist to join the Genetic Toxicology group within Non-clinical Drug Safety. This individual will be part of a high performing group and will be primarily responsible for the conduct of in vitro genotoxicity studies in mammalian cells (e.g., in vitro micronucleus) under both screening and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) conditions, in support of drug discovery and development.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Work with mammalian cell cultures or isolated samples from in vivo studies to perform routine and non-routine genetic toxicology assays.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with GLP, maintain cell cultures, and perform manual microscopic analysis of fixed cells for the presence of micronuclei.
- Collaborate closely with other scientists within the genetic toxicology group and other functional areas within Non-clinical Drug Safety.
- Apply a range of practical laboratory skills required in a cell biology lab and demonstrate expertise in working with in vitro cell cultures.
- Have experience with in vitro micronucleus assay or chromosome aberration assay as an advantage, along with experience working in accordance with GLP standards.
- Work in a team, be flexible with rapidly changing work assignments/schedules and priorities, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Bachelor of Science or MS degree (Biology, Cellular & Molecular biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related sciences) plus at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Must-havesExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated laboratory skills in cellular/molecular biology including in vitro cell culture techniques.
Preferred experience with Genetic Toxicology assay design and conduct, such as in vitro micronucleus assay.
Ability to collaborate among a range of diverse scientific backgrounds; adapt, work in a matrix environment, and meet tight timelines.
Self-driven and accountable for own learning.
