Job Description SummaryServe as Research Manager of the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism’s Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core; provide daily management for all activities in the Rodent Phenotyping Core; train and supervise research specialists and technicians; design and perform metabolic studies in mouse models, and chemical and immunoassays on tissues; analyze assay results and communicate results to investigators; maintain core usage statistics for reporting purposes;
collaborate with the Core director for long range planning; develop, implement and monitor lab safety guidelines and procedures; plan and manage service center budget; oversee lab facilities; order/maintain supplies.
As Research Manager D of the Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core:
Body composition (NMR; DEXA); CLAMS; treadmill exercise insulin/glucose clamp and radio isotopic tracer kinetics; thermography; BAT thermogenesis; tissue chemistry; ELISA;
Glucose and insulin tolerance tests
Interface with companies and Penn IT to troubleshoot equipment and software issues, often on the fly, and ensure the smooth operation of the core.
