Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D is recruiting for a Director, Protein Sciences. The role is a hybrid position and can be located in Spring House, PA or Cambridge, MA.

• Lead evaluation of therapeutic targets, including structural, sequence, and domain architecture analysis, integration of internal and external data, and definition of antigen and engineered‑cell design strategies.
• Design constructs and select domains, optimize epitope exposure and conformational states, and develop strategies for difficult targets such as multi‑pass membrane proteins using Nanodisc technology and nucleic acid immunogen design.
• Apply computational and structural biology approaches to protein design: homology modeling, structural analysis, rational mutagenesis, and integration of emerging AI/ML‑based design tools.
• Engineer proteins to improve stability, expression and functional relevance for discovery assays and immunization.

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Protein Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in biologics discovery or protein sciences.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Strong knowledge of antigen design and generation, structural biology, protein sequence analysis, and biologics discovery workflows from target to lead identification.
• Preferred experience or domain knowledge in oncology, immunology, and/or neuroscience.
• People management experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strategic mindset with a strong scientific focus and ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced matrix environment.

Base Pay Range: $ – $
