Associate Director, Expression Sciences

Role:
Associate Director of Expression Sciences at Johnson & Johnson, leading efforts in recombinant protein expression to support drug discovery.

Responsibilities

• manage and mentor teams conducting high-throughput expression screening across bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems;
• define strategic vision for automation and platform development;
• design screening workflows for challenging targets, including membrane proteins;
• implement new technologies like AI/ML-guided screening;
• oversee data analysis and vendor relationships;
• ensure regulatory compliance.

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular or Structural Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years industry experience;
• deep expertise in recombinant expression across multiple systems;
• proven leadership in managing scientific teams;
• strong collaboration skills with structural biology and discovery teams;
• excellent communication.

Preferred: experience with membrane protein expression, AI/ML integration, LIMS implementation, and a track record of publications or patents.

High-Value: focus on protein expression for drug discovery, including biophysical and structural applications, supporting Innovative Medicine pipeline.
