DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role oversees food production and service to support a safe and clean environment for patients at Danville State Hospital. The position requires strong leadership and attention to detail to maintain high standards set by regulating agencies. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Leadership:
Guide food service workers and cooks by coordinating tasks, inspecting work, and providing feedback - Training Oversight:
Conduct orientation, on-the-job instruction, and in-service training for food service staff - Scheduling Management:
Review staffing needs, assign shifts, and approve leave to maintain efficient operations - Performance Evaluation:
Complete reviews, document performance notes, and support quality work across all tasks - Safety and Sanitation:
Inspect food service areas, monitor temperatures, and address repair needs to meet standards - Inventory Control:
Order supplies, oversee storage, and maintain accurate monthly inventory records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours rotate between 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs.
- This position works 7 to 8 day work weeks with 2 to 4 days off in a row. 1 out of every 3rd weekend off.
- This position rotates between AM supervisor and closing supervisor
- Overtime may be required as needed.

You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:

This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
- Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.
