Edenbrook North is currently looking for a positive and reliable PT Cook who understands the importance of their role in delivering high-quality care through excellent meal preparation and service.
Position:Cook (Part-time)
Schedule:
11:30 AM–7:30 PM; schedule may vary throughout the week. Every other weekend required.
- Food Preparation & Cooking:
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and residents’ dietary needs and preferences. - Menu Execution:
Follow menu plans and recipes accurately to ensure meals are prepared consistently and according to dietary requirements. - Dietary Compliance:
Prepare meals and special diets according to individual diet orders and established guidelines. - Food Quality & Presentation:
Ensure food is properly cooked, appealingly presented, and served at the appropriate temperature. - Food Temperature & Safety:
Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, cooking, holding, and service. Record temperatures according to protocol. - Portion Control:
Follow established portion sizes and use proper utensils and measuring tools to ensure consistency. - Meal Service:
Assist with timely meal and snack service, ensuring meals are served according to residents’ diet orders and preferences. - Kitchen Sanitation:
Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, dishes, utensils, work surfaces, and kitchen areas using proper procedures. - Food Storage:
Properly label, date, store, and rotate food items according to food safety standards. - Inventory & Supplies:
Assist with monitoring food supplies and report low stock or needed items to the appropriate supervisor. - Team Support:
Work cooperatively with the dietary team and assist with other kitchen and dietary duties as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Knowledge of safe food preparation, cooking, handling, and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, diet orders, and established procedures accurately
- Basic reading and writing skills appropriate to the role
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Patience and a positive, polite, and respectful demeanor
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
