Location: Douglassville
Job Description
The Staff Geoscientist position is available in the environmental department of a long standing tank services company. This position requires the participation and coordination of a variety of environmental projects as required under state regulations, at a variety of site properties within Pennsylvania and adjacent states. Work includes field work, preparation of reports for submission to clients and regulatory agencies, reporting project statuses to management and other related work.
- BS in Earth Sciences and at least five years experience.
- Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Mobilizes out of the Douglassville office to and from site projects.
- Conducts environmental soil and water sampling events on properties with known or suspected releases of hazardous substances and petroleum products.
- Prepares environmental soil and groundwater samples and relevant chain-of-custody paperwork for delivery to analytical laboratory.
- Collects site project data and records in a respective project field notebook.
- Coordinate with PADEP and USTIF to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain project funding.
- Takes digital pictures to photo document site images for reports.
- Makes to-scale site maps, groundwater contour maps, and plume maps for reports.
- Enter field data generated from each project into computer. Simplifies, summarizes and analyzes and evaluates site data using MS Word or Excel spreadsheet tables.
- Lead project management efforts including budgeting, scheduling and client communication.
- Conducts relative vertical elevation site surveys.
- Conducts field reconnaissance well surveys in site neighborhoods as required/practical.
- Coordinates and completes records review for sites as required.
- Conducts or assists with aquifer testing.
- Directs soil and well drilling events and logs well/boring lithology into field book.
- Prepares soilboring and well logs and diagrams.
- Develops, organizes, and completes data for site status reports as required/necessary.
- Conducts Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and produces technical report deliverables.
- Experience with in the PADEP Corrective Action Program and/or PADEP Land Recycling Program.
- OHSA 40 hour a plus.
