Correctional Officer

The Pike County Correctional Facility is hiring Correctional Officers and support personnel of the highest standards who are qualified and reliable.

Corrections work involves unique and demanding conditions. Employees will be scheduled 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the role may require unforeseen mandatory overtime. Candidates must be aware of and accept these conditions as a condition of employment.

• Maintain the security and safety of the correctional facility for 24/7 operation.
• Respond promptly to incidents and maintain order in direct contact with inmates.
• Serve in shift rotations, including swing shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and other hours as directed by the Warden.
• Operate within the facility in an unarmed capacity and remain on lock‑down at all times.
• Provide telephone service and respond promptly to voice messages.
• Maintain prescribed physical fitness, grooming, dress and appearance standards.

• MUST be a high school graduate or hold a GED equivalent.
• MUST be 21 years of age or older at time of hire.
• MUST possess a valid driver’s license.
• MUST meet physical and medical standards, including TB and hepatitis screening, and successfully pass a physical agility test, drug screen and fingerprinting.
• MUST complete the Pike County Correctional Facility basic training course, which includes physical training, CPR and Basic First Aid certification.
• MUST pass a rigorous background investigation and provide clear documentation of any prior education or military records.
• MUST be ready to report under any adverse weather condition.
• Employment is open to individuals on one‑year probation who do not have a criminal record graded as a felony or a serious misdemeanor, and who are not subject to any Protection From Abuse orders or legal firearm prohibitions.
