Duties
Helps coordinates with the Counter Terrorism Unit in collecting, analyzing and disseminating strategic intelligence as it relates to inmates or groups of inmates whose unique skills or illicit activities pose a significant threat to the security of the institution, the safety of staff and inmates, and the welfare of the surrounding community. Conducts counter-intelligence operations and research to prevent or intercede efforts by sophisticated elements of the inmate population to illicitly gather information regarding the identity of confidential informants, or otherwise curtail the investigative activities of the SIS, SIS LT.,
or other sensitive operations of the institution. Serves as Law Enforcement Liaison in referring criminal cases to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), United States Marshall Service, United States Secret Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), etc., and presents cases to the United States Attorney's for possible prosecution. Manages the intelligence collection plan for inmates identified as needing increased monitoring based on the nature of their offense and commitment.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
