Corrections Community Center Monitor - Scranton CCC

THE POSITION

Become a Corrections Community Center Monitor with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and bring strong energy and professionalism to the Scranton Community Corrections Center (CCC). This role places you on the front line of a secure correctional environment, where you guide reentrants and support daily facility operations. This position focuses on providing care, custody, and control of reentrants within a state-operated Community Corrections Center. It involves active supervision, accurate documentation, and consistent monitoring to maintain safety and order. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

• Safety Monitoring:
  Ensure security of the center and observe reentrant behavior through direct contact and CCTV
• Behavior Oversight:
  Conduct counts, searches, and inspections to maintain order and detect contraband
• Orientation Support:
  Lead new reentrant orientation and review policies, schedules, and responsibilities
• Compliance Checks:
  Verify reentrant destinations, administer tests, and document observations and misconducts
• Public Interaction:
  Provide information to visitors and respond appropriately to concerns and complaints
• Law Enforcement Liaison:
  Serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement and participate in legal proceedings when required

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours.
• You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:
  In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania is required.
• You must be willing and able to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
• You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
• One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
