Allegheny Surface Technology (AST) is looking for dependable, mechanically inclined Traveling Laborers who want more than just a job. If you enjoy hands-on work, don’t mind being on the road, and want steady work when you’re home, this role offers the best of both worlds.

What Makes This Role Different?

Travel is a major part of the job — expect to be on customer sites across the country about 21 days per month

Guaranteed downtime — you’ll have a minimum of 8 days off each month

Home base in Lewis Run, PA — when travel slows, you’ll work in our clean, professional shop, continuing to earn, learn, and grow

, specializing in electropolishing, passivation, and pressure vessel inspection, repair, and testing. Our work supports critical industries—and we take pride in doing it safely, professionally, and right the first time.

What You’ll Do

As a Traveling Laborer, you are a key representative of AST—both in the field and in our shop.

While Traveling:

• Work at customer locations, sometimes on short notice (up to 24 hours)
• Perform field service tasks independently or as part of a team
• Serve as a confined space attendant when required
• Assist with loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintaining field service equipment
• Communicate job details, concerns, and equipment needs clearly and professionally
• Represent AST with a strong safety mindset and customer-first attitude

When Not Traveling:

• Work in our Lewis Run, PA shop
  , supporting production based on your skills and experience
• Continue hands-on training and skill development
• Stay engaged, productive, and advancing your career—even when field work is limited

What We’re Looking For

• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle requirements
• Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to meet customer-specific requirements (safety training, drug testing, background checks, etc.)
• Physical ability to perform confined space attendant duties
• Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented attitude
