Position Overview / DutiesAbout the Position:
Incumbent serves as a Maintenance Worker for the Project Lake Office, performing a variety of maintenance, operation, and inspection duties at the New Bethlehem, PA location.
- Operates, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment related to cranes, hoists, pumps, hydraulic systems, and water control gate systems.
- Operates and maintains all electrical components, panels, and circuitry for a major public works flood‑control structure as well as associated office buildings and public use areas.
- Operates overhead cranes, mobile hydraulic crane, road grader, dump trucks, all‑terrain vehicles, snow plows, bobcat, front‑end loaders, bulldozers, and backhoes.
- Performs maintenance, repair, or replacement of equipment, wooden and masonry structures; including carpentry, painting, concrete finishing, wastewater, and water treatment tasks.
- Supports the Contracting Officer’s Representative or inspector for project maintenance contracts.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on electrical and hydraulic equipment, buildings, and/or grounds.
- Operate cranes and gasoline‑powered vehicles such as dump trucks, all‑terrain vehicles, and bulldozers.
- Utilize a variety of tools and equipment.
Failure to meet this screen‑out element will result in an ineligible rating at this level.

Incumbent must be able to perform all physical requirements, including repetitive lifting of objects up to 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs with assistance), operating heavy equipment, working on steep or uneven ground, ladders, platforms, and scaffolds. Effort is required to maintain balance, operate hand and foot controls, and work in uncomfortable positions.
Working ConditionsWork is performed on scaffolding, ladders, rooftops, and in inclement weather, with exposure to dust, welding fumes, paint vapors, sandblast particles, and potential hazards such as falling, burns, cuts, or infections.
Conditions of Employment & Notes- Position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent must sign a DA Form 5019‑R.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses for this position (Dump Truck, Truck & Trailer, Crane, Forklift, Construction Equipment). Medical surveillance may be required.
- Valid State motor‑vehicle operator’s license is required before appointment.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License may be required.
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, and up to 100 lbs with assistance, is required.
