Position: Maintenance Electrician (ELECTRN)
Location: Davis

Perform journey-level electrical work. Fabricate, install, repair, inspect, service, maintain and replace components of campus low voltage systems and lighting control systems. Procure materials as needed. Work independently and perform quality work safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable codes. Assist Inspector-Planner-Estimators, engineers, supervisors, or other staff to perform inspection, estimating or preparation of specifications and drawings. Perform proper time keeping and accounting of materials and expenses for assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
  • Must possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school, or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey-level craftsperson in the electrical trade.
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • High school diploma and/or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated journey-level experience in the electrical trade and related practices to perform assigned duties without direct supervision.
  • Experience to inspect and perform preventive maintenance programs on electrical and alarm systems and other campus systems related to craft functions.
  • Demonstrated skill to fabricate, maintain, service, repair, replace, install and/or alter electrical equipment and other campus systems related to craft function.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience to install, program, troubleshoot and maintain industrial controls such as variable frequency drives (VFDs) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience to program, troubleshoot, and modify both centralized and distributed building lighting control systems.
  • Install and maintain lighting control panels, daylight sensors, occupancy sensors, switch packs, relay modules, and other wired and wireless control devices.
  • Experience with maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repair of electric motors, motor starters, motor control centers, and associated control circuits.
  • Experience to diagnose and repair problems with building power distribution equipment, circuit breakers, branch circuits, receptacles and switches-Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Program controls to comply with CCR Title 24 and to meet the needs of building occupants.
  • Skill to understand and interpret technical data, mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Skills to operate a personal computer.
  • Organizational skills to understand and meet established unit goals and objectives, and meet project deadlines within an estimated budget.
  • Knowledge of building codes regarding the installation of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of approved safety devices and practices
