OverviewH&K Group is looking for an experienced utility mechanic to repair, maintain, and install infrastructure for essential services such as water, gas and electricity.
Responsibilities- Reviews job order and observes and listens to equipment/infrastructure in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
- Identify parts for repairs or replacement for all systems on equipment when needed.
- Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment, and makes adjustments.
- Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal.
- Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction and to confirm that it meets manufactures specifications.
- Performs diagnostics thru the use of computers.
- Utility maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solving.
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).
- One year of relevant utility construction experience (equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered).
- Experienced in underground utilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and structures.
- Three years of related experience and/or training.
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Vision abilities include distance, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
