Job Overview

First Student is hiring a Diesel Mechanic II in Harmony, PA, serving Seneca Valley School District.

Hours:

Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Pay rate: $28.00–$34.00 per hour, based on experience, with a $5,000 hiring bonus. This day‑shift position offers consistent, year‑round work and company‑paid opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance, including brakes, engine tune‑ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions, clutches and other required repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Complete work orders accurately.
  • Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education.
  • Strong vehicle diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days (company‑paid training).
  • Possession of a mechanic’s tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety‑sensitive employee.
