Industrial Plant Electrician (Penbryn, NJ)

Johns Manville (JM) is hiring an Industrial Plant Electrician at our Penbryn, NJ plant. The role reports to the shift supervisor and involves performing all electrical maintenance on equipment to maximize productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards. The position follows the DuPont schedule with 12‑hour shifts over a 28‑day cycle.

What You Bring to the Team
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Electrical Journeyman certification, or 5+ years of verified experience as an industrial maintenance electrician in a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly.
Your Day-to-Day
  • Participate actively in the safety process and practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Assemble and install electrical circuits, systems, instrumentation, and equipment, including motors, regulators, controllers, generators, switches, etc.
  • Inspect electrical equipment and machinery, diagnose faulty operation, determine corrective action, document in the maintenance scheduling program, and make indicated repairs.
  • Perform electrical tests using megger, voltmeter, ammeter, ground locator, and other instruments. Possess working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switch gear, and comply with Underwriter, national, state, and local codes.
  • Configure, commission, troubleshoot, and start up AC/DC drives, HMI, PLC, or DCS systems as required.
  • Read, comprehend, and mark up basic electrical prints for installations.
  • Dismantle and assemble electrical motors and allied equipment; repair, clean, and replace parts.
  • Install and repair electrical conduit and cable, including connections, controls, and grounding.
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with co‑workers from all departments and the supervisor.
  • Prepare work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, and other clerical duties to maintain accurate records.
  • Direct, assist, and instruct other co‑workers on jobs, as needed.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing and walking regularly, occasionally sitting, using hands for handling and moving items, reaching, and communicating. The employee will frequently lift, push, or pull 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required for working around machinery.

Work Environment

This role is in an industrial manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. Conditions may be hot, humid, cold, or wet, dusty, and uneven. Noise, vibration, and fumes are common, and airborne particles or chemicals may irritate skin or eyes. Personal protective equipment, including steel‑toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, gloves, head protection, and possibly respirators, is required.
