This position focuses on completing electrical repair and maintenance work throughout the institution while overseeing an inmate work detail. The role emphasizes safety, instruction, and hands-on electrical skills in a correctional setting. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Electrical Repairs: Complete preventive maintenance and repair tasks on electrical systems and equipment
• Inmate Instruction: Provide classroom and on-the-job training in electrical trade methods and practices
• Work Supervision: Assign daily inmate schedules, oversee progress, and inspect completed work
• Material Control: Issue, track, and inventory tools and supplies needed for daily assignments
• Safety Practices: Teach electrical hazards, enforce safety rules, and maintain secure work areas
• Record Keeping: Document maintenance activities, work orders, time records, and material usage

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
