Location: Villanova, PA

Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building HVACR equipment consistently with manufacturer guidelines and accepted practices to optimize energy use.
- Install HVACR units, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components and connections.
- Install HVACR ductwork, including flexible tubing and sheet metal construction.
- Install, maintain, and repair computerized electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital control (DDC) devices related to HVACR control.
- Maintain and make operating repairs on electrical equipment and appliances, oil and gas equipment, refrigerators/freezers, ice makers, and other refrigeration equipment.
- Operate and keep in good working order a variety of equipment such as hand tools, mobile electronic devices, measuring/diagnostic/testing meters, and instruments.
- Conserve, install, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform brazing, silver and lead soldering, pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication as required.
- Perform carpentry, masonry, painting, and plastering work as required.
- Coordinate repairs with other trades affected by HVAC operations.
- Assist in furniture and event set‑ups and breakdowns, decorations for special functions, meetings, etc.
- Perform other duties within the normal scope of the department’s responsibilities and the individual’s capabilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent with formal training in HVACR.
- Currently classified and working as HVAC Technician 3rd Class with all required qualifications.
- Minimum of two years of service at Villanova University (at the discretion of Facilities Management).
- Possession and maintenance of required personal hand tools.
- Ability to research information from various sources to facilitate repairs (technical manuals, as built prints, equipment suppliers, and internet websites).
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on all campus HVAC/R equipment under moderate supervision.
- Ability to properly lubricate, repair, replace, and align direct and indirect mechanical drive components for all campus HVAC/R equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair central heating/cooling air distribution systems.
- Ability to verify, troubleshoot, isolate, repair or replace all components of campus chilled/heating hydronic water distribution systems.
- Ability to verify steam pressure for campus heat exchangers where applicable.
- Ability to install, secure, repair, or replace components of campus air distribution systems to optimize airflow and structural stability.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electric heat sources across campus (reheat, air handler, auxiliary, and baseboard heating coils).
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, isolate, repair or replace components of direct expansion/refrigeration systems.
- Ability to implement pipe fitting techniques (threading, brazing, lead and silver soldering) for HVAC/R repairs.
- Ability to verify, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, or replace control system components from source to end devices.
- Follow verbal and written directions in English; interact professionally with students, faculty, administration, and staff; read OSHA guidelines and safety data sheets.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and sequences of operations to diagnose proper operation of HVAC/R equipment.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs; work in enclosed spaces; and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- No disciplinary actions on file within the previous twelve months of applying.
- Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card to operate aerial lift, bucket truck, forklift, or all.
- Ability to erect and work on scaffolding as per OSHA standards.
- Excellent safety record.
- Current OSHA 10 certification or higher and ability to operate aerial/scissor lift, bucket truck, and forklift.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs; work in enclosed spaces.
- Core hours:
Monday‑Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Early arrival or late departure expected for emergency repairs. - Positions: 2
