DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to keep buildings, equipment, and grounds in proper working condition. The role supports daily operations by completing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general upkeep tasks across the installation. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Carpentry Tasks:
    Install ceilings, flooring, doors, insulation, and structural features
  • Plumbing Work:
    Install and repair toilets, faucets, sinks, pipes, valves, and seals
  • Painting Duties:
    Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior and exterior painting projects
  • Electrical Repairs:
    Replace switches, outlets, ballasts, and bulbs, and run wire or conduit when needed
  • Grounds Care:
    Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and keep outdoor areas clear of debris
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Care for tools and machinery through cleaning, adjustments, and preventive repairs

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment,. 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements
  • You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
  • Formal training in skilled building construction, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switch gear, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aquastats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as they relate to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting or pipe fitting, refrigeration or HVAC, painting, roofing or tinsmithing, drywall or plasterer work, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
