Start the next chapter of your Plumbing Career! The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at SCI Frackville is actively seeking a devoted and passionate Plumbing Trade Instructor. As a Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will work as part of a dedicated maintenance team where collaboration and communication are integral.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position focuses on providing structured classroom and hands-on instruction in the plumbing trade to inmates at SCI Frackville. The role supports facility efficiency and offers vocational training that prepares inmates for future opportunities. As a Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Classroom Instruction: Teach plumbing trade principles, methods, and procedures in an organized learning environment
- Crew Supervision: Guide inmate work crews through plumbing tasks and monitor progress
- Material Control: Track, issue, and account for tools and materials used in training and work assignments
- Work Planning: Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed plumbing work
- Training Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inmate attendance, progress, and assignment details

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems;
or - Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade;
or - An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
