The Industrial Painter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Claymont, DE. The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking structural steel and other substrates, and applying industrial coatings, including fireproofing and specialized protective systems, using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Daily tasks include mixing and thinning coatings according to specifications, setting up and maintaining painting equipment, and following work orders and technical data sheets to ensure proper application and coverage.
The role requires adherence to safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment, working at heights or in confined spaces when required, and complying with company and regulatory standards. The Industrial Painter will also assist with quality checks, touch-ups, and documentation of completed work, while collaborating with supervisors and crew members to meet project schedules.
Qualifications:
- Surface preparation and application skills, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying industrial coatings and fireproofing systems.
- Experience with painting tools and equipment such as airless sprayers, conventional spray systems, brushes, rollers, and related maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety practices, including proper use of PPE, fall protection, respirator use, and safe work in industrial and construction environments.
- Ability to interpret work orders, technical data sheets, and basic drawings, and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor, stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work at heights or in varying weather conditions.
- Prior industrial or commercial painting experience; experience with fireproofing or specialized coatings is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, production-driven setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade training or relevant certifications (e.g., SSPC/NACE, OSHA-10/30) are a plus.
